Spore-Print Protocols

logged 2025.02.27 #provenance #decentralization 2 shared roots

A spore print is a fungus's way of saying: here is exactly what I am, reproducibly, so you can identify me later.

Content-addressing is the same instinct. Name a thing by the hash of what it contains and provenance becomes intrinsic: you can't quietly swap the contents without changing the name.

Honest by construction

Most provenance systems bolt trust on afterward with signatures and registries. The stronger move is to make tampering visible by default, the way a mismatched spore print tells a forager they misidentified the mushroom.
